Biography
Sophie Ellis-Bextor is an English singer and songwriter from London who fronted *theaudience* in the late 1990s before going solo. Her debut album 'Read My Lips' (2001) and its single Murder on the Dancefloor made her a leading British dance pop voice, blending mainstream pop with disco, nu-disco and 1980s electronic sounds. Later albums moved between dance pop and the folk and orchestral pop of 'Wanderlust' and 'Familia'. Murder on the Dancefloor returned to the charts after featuring in the film Saltburn in 2023, ahead of her eighth studio album 'Perimenopop' (2025).
