Biography
Steve Marcus was a New York saxophonist who spent a dozen years as the featured soloist in *Buddy Rich*'s big band. Before that chair he had worked for *Stan Kenton*, *Woody Herman* and *Herbie Mann*, and led Count's Rock Band, whose #Vortex Records# albums 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and 'Count's Rock Band' helped invent jazz rock fusion in the late 1960s, with *Larry Coryell* on guitar. After Rich's death he led the successor band Buddy's Buddies and remained a respected elder of the big band circuit until his death in 2005.
