Biography
Stuart Murdoch is a Scottish musician, writer, and filmmaker, best known as the lead singer and primary songwriter for the indie pop band Belle and Sebastian. His literate, narrative-driven lyrics and gentle melodies have been central to the band's identity since its formation in 1996. A period of illness with ME/CFS in his youth proved to be a creatively fertile time, during which he wrote many of the songs that would appear on the band's acclaimed early albums 'Tigermilk' and 'If You're Feeling Sinister'. Beyond the band, Murdoch conceived the musical project and subsequent film 'God Help the Girl', further showcasing his distinctive storytelling and pop sensibilities.
