Biography
Suicide was an American musical duo formed in New York City and active intermittently between 1970 and 2016. Composed of vocalist Alan Vega and instrumentalist Martin Rev, the group defined a minimalist and confrontational approach to electronic music. Rev’s primitive drum machine patterns and abrasive synthesizer riffs provided a stark backdrop for Vega’s rockabilly-inspired, reverb-drenched vocals. Though never broadly popular, their aggressive, pioneering sound served as a blueprint for synth-punk, post-punk, and industrial music, and its influence was later acknowledged by a wide range of artists.
