Taku Sugimoto

Biography

Taku Sugimoto is a Tokyo guitarist and composer, born in 1965, known for restrained, melodic free improvisation that later gave way to near silent abstraction. A co founder of *Piero Manzoni* and a member of *Henkyo Gakudan* and briefly *Ghost*, he helped shape Tokyo onkyo through the Meeting at Bar Aoyama series. His solo and collaborative records, including 'Opposite' and 'The World Turned Upside Down', document a style built on space, silence and single, carefully placed notes.
