Biography
The Bar-Kays are a Memphis soul and funk band formed as a #Stax Records# session group, best known for the 1967 hit 'Soul Finger' and for backing *Otis Redding*. Four members died with Redding in the 1967 Lake Monona plane crash; survivors Ben Cauley and James Alexander rebuilt the band, which backed *Isaac Hayes*, added singer Larry Dodson and became a major 1970s funk act. Alexander, the last original member, still leads it.
