Biography
American band formed in New York City in late 1964 by poets Ed Sanders and Tuli Kupferberg with drummer Ken Weaver. Their satirical, obscene folk-rock for #ESP-Disk# and #Reprise Records#, including 'The Fugs First Album', 'Tenderness Junction' and 'It Crawled into My Hand, Honest', made them anti-war counterculture icons and proto-punk pioneers. They reformed in 1984 after disbanding around 1969.
