Biography
The Gap Band was the Tulsa funk group of brothers Ronnie, Charlie and Robert Wilson, formed in 1967 and named, in shortened form, for Greenwood, Archer and Pine streets in their hometown's historic Black Wall Street district. After early albums for *Leon Russell*'s #Shelter Records#, they hit their stride on #Mercury Records# and #Total Experience Records# with 'Burn Rubber on Me', 'You Dropped a Bomb on Me' and the endlessly sampled 'Outstanding'. The brothers remained the band's core until retiring in 2010.
