Biography
American punk band formed in Yellow Springs, Ohio, in 1986 and based in Seattle from 1989, fronted by Mia Zapata. The Gits' 'Frenching the Bully' captured a fierce live act built around Zapata's bluesy roar. Her murder in July 1993 ended the band; 'Enter: The Conquering Chicken' appeared posthumously. Their surviving members later worked with *Joan Jett* on the Evil Stig project.
