Biography
American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led since its formation by Scott 'Wino' Weinrich. The Obsessed helped define American doom through 'The Obsessed' (1990), 'Lunar Womb' (1991) and 'The Church Within' (1994), records of slow, Sabbath-heavy riffing and stark, confessional writing. Weinrich revived the band in 2016, and it has since released 'Sacred' (2017) and 'Gilded Sorrow' (2024). Their influence on American doom and stoner metal far exceeds their modest commercial fortunes.
