Biography
Glasgow indie pop band formed in 1981 around Stephen Pastel, The Pastels were pioneers of shambling and anorak pop and stars of the 'C86' era. Albums including 'Up for a Bit with the Pastels', 'Mobile Safari' and 'Slow Summits' on their #Geographic Music# label, plus McRobbie's work championing other Scottish bands, made them enduringly influential despite their modest commercial success.
