Biography
The Sundays were an English alternative rock band formed in Bristol in 1988 by singer Harriet Wheeler and guitarist David Gavurin, who met while studying at Bristol University. Joined by bassist Paul Brindley and drummer Patrick Hannan, the band signed to #Rough Trade Records# and released the debut single 'Can't Be Sure' in 1989. The first album, 'Reading, Writing and Arithmetic', reached number four in the UK in 1990 and produced the US modern rock hit 'Here's Where the Story Ends'. The darker 'Blind' followed in 1992 on #Parlophone#, and 'Static and Silence' (1997) yielded their biggest UK single, 'Summertime'. Wheeler and Gavurin then stepped back to raise a family; the band has released nothing since and never formally announced a split, remaining on hiatus since 1997.
