Biography
Detroit psychedelic soul group created in 1970 by producer Norman Whitfield at #Motown#. Led throughout by singer Joe Harris, first alongside Billie Rae Calvin and Brenda Joyce Evans, the Undisputed Truth recorded for #Gordy# and later #Whitfield Records#, applying Whitfield's expansive, socially conscious production to songs such as 'Smiling Faces Sometimes', 'Papa Was a Rollin' Stone' and 'You + Me = Love'. An expanded mid-1970s lineup moved the sound towards funk before the group disbanded in the early 1980s.
