Biography
The Vapors formed in Guildford, England, in 1978, led by singer and songwriter David Fenton with Edward Bazalgette, Steve Smith and Howard Smith. Signed to #United Artists Records#, they released 'New Clear Days' in 1980, containing 'Turning Japanese', and the more reflective 'Magnets' in 1981, then split in 1982. Reuniting in 2016 with drummer Michael Bowes and, later, guitarist Danny Fenton, the band returned to recording with 'Together' in 2020 and 'Wasp in a Jar' in 2025, playing taut, melodic new wave guitar pop across both eras of its career.
