The Walkmen

The Walkmen

The Walkmen are an American rock band formed in 2000, becoming a key part of the early 2000s New York City post-punk revival. The band consists of Hamilton Leithauser, Paul Maroon, Walter Martin, Peter Matthew Bauer, and Matt Barrick, who merged from the ashes of two former bands, *Jonathan Fire*Eater* and *The Recoys*. Known for their distinctive sound featuring vintage instruments, driving rhythms, and Leithauser's impassioned vocals, they gained widespread critical acclaim with their 2004 album 'Bows + Arrows' and its iconic single, "The Rat". After a series of celebrated albums on labels like #Startime International# and #Fat Possum#, the band entered a decade-long hiatus in 2013 before reuniting in 2023.
