Biography

The War on Drugs is an American rock band formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2005 by Adam Granduciel and Kurt Vile. Granduciel, the band's singer, guitarist and main songwriter, and bassist David Hartley have been the constant members. Vile left in 2009, shortly after the debut album 'Wagonwheel Blues' was released in 2008, to concentrate on his solo career, although he contributed guitar to the follow-up 'Slave Ambient' in 2011. Keyboardist Robbie Bennett joined in 2010, and drummer Charlie Hall, saxophonist Jon Natchez and guitarist Anthony LaMarca became full members during the period of 'Lost in the Dream', released in 2014. The band signed to #Atlantic Records# and won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album with 'A Deeper Understanding' in 2017. 'I Don't Live Here Anymore' followed in 2021, with keyboardist Eliza Hardy Jones joining that year.
