Biography
Led by Charles Wright, the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band was a Los Angeles soul and funk group whose loose studio improvisations helped turn soul into funk. Recording for #Warner Bros.# from 1968, they scored with 'Do Your Thing' and 'Love Land' before the 1970 hit 'Express Yourself', later sampled by *N.W.A*. The band broke up after 'You're So Beautiful' in 1971, when its rhythm section left to play with *Bill Withers*.
