Biography
Trans Am are an American trio formed in 1990 near Washington, D.C., consisting of Philip Manley, Nathan Means and Sebastian Thomson. Associated with the mid-1990s post-rock scene around *Tortoise* and the #Thrill Jockey# label, they combine krautrock, heavy metal, synth-pop and electronics, largely instrumentally and with heavy use of vocoder. Their debut 'Trans Am' appeared in 1996, followed by albums including 'Surrender to the Night', 'The Surveillance' and 'Futureworld'. The lineup has remained unchanged throughout the band's career.
