Biography

U.S. Maple were a Chicago experimental rock band formed in 1995 by Al Johnson and Mark Shippy of *Shorty* with Pat Samson and Todd Rittmann of the *Mercury Players*, intent on deconstructing rock and roll. Their #Skin Graft Records# albums 'Long Hair in Three Stages' (1995) and 'Sang Phat Editor' (1997) were produced by *Jim O'Rourke*. On #Drag City# they made 'Talker' (1999) and 'Acre Thrills' (2001); drummer *Adam Vida* then replaced Samson for 'Purple On Time' (2003). The band separated in 2007.
