Biography
Virus was a foundational Argentine band that pioneered the new wave and synth-pop sound in Latin America during the 1980s. Formed in La Plata, the group was fronted by the charismatic Federico Moura, whose provocative stage presence and sophisticated, often ironic lyrics set them apart. They broke through with albums like 'Agujero Interior' and achieved massive success with 'Locura', which sold over 200,000 copies. Their music, a danceable mix of pop hooks and electronic textures released on labels like #CBS#, challenged the solemnity of post-dictatorship Argentine rock. After Federico's tragic death in 1988, his brother Marcelo took over vocals, ensuring the band's influential legacy continues.
