Biography
English power electronics band formed in London in 1980 by William Bennett, the group's only constant member. With Philip Best and Peter Sotos as long-serving collaborators, Whitehouse turned harsh noise, distorted synthesizers and shouted vocals into a confrontational art about power and taboo. Albums including 'Total Sex', 'Psychopathia Sexualis' and 'Bird Seed', issued through #Come Organisation# and #Susan Lawly#, made the group foundational to power electronics and industrial noise before Bennett dissolved it in 2008.
