Biography
British-Bahraini trumpeter and composer Yazz Ahmed blends jazz improvisation with Arabic melody, using a custom quarter-tone flugelhorn built for maqam scales. Her albums 'La Saboteuse' (2017) on #Naim Records# and 'Polyhymnia' (2019), a suite honouring women heroes, established her as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British jazz. She also writes for larger ensembles and performs across Europe with her own quartet..
