Album Notes & Community Reviews

Assembling early sessions recorded for Fantasy Records before the formation of his famed quartet, this compilation captures the pianist in a more intimate setting. The trio recordings highlight Brubeck's heavy, chordal playing style and his foundational integration of classical counterpoint into jazz improvisation.
