Subtitled 'A Bizarre Collection of Antiques and Curios', 'Relics' functions as a retrospective of Pink Floyd's earliest, Syd Barrett-led psychedelic pop singles and experimental B-sides. It served to keep product in the market while the band labored over expansive new studio work, simultaneously providing fans access to formerly scarce non-album tracks. The whimsical collection juxtaposes their initial swinging-London pop whimsy against their burgeoning avant-garde tendencies.
