Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released just as the band departed I.R.S. Records for major-label superstardom, 'Eponymous' provides a concise, alternative history of R.E.M.'s massively influential indie years. Rather than a standard greatest-hits package, the collection features several alternate vocal takes, different mixes, and the original Hib-Tone single version of 'Radio Free Europe'. It acts as a perfect, slightly skewed capstone to the era where they single-handedly defined the American college rock sound.
