Album Notes & Community Reviews
A vital archival release from Blue Note, 'Involution' compiles previously unissued avant-garde sessions recorded in the mid-1960s. Sam Rivers leads two different quintets through highly abstract, relentlessly searching post-bop architectures that foreshadowed the peak of the free jazz movement.
