This CD compilation effectively unifies Swans' transitional masterpiece 'Children of God' alongside the brooding acoustic recordings from Michael Gira and Jarboe's side project, Skin. The combined release perfectly maps the band's radical pivot away from punishing industrial sludge toward sweeping, gothic melodies and intensely religious, apocalyptic neofolk. It is a stunning, deeply disturbing dual-portrait of one of the 1980s most uncompromising experimental groups.
