Album Notes & Community Reviews
This twenty-track collection gathers the recordings A.P., Sara and Maybelle Carter made over three days in May for ARC, and closes with three later sides from a subsequent session. Sara sings lead and plays autoharp while Maybelle's guitar carries the melody on the bass strings and the rhythm on the treble strings, the technique known as the Carter scratch. Its title song, A.P.'s reworking of the hymn 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken?', appears alongside 'Wildwood Flower', 'Worried Man Blues' and 'Keep on the Sunny Side'.
