Album Notes & Community Reviews

Shining a light on a largely forgotten era following the heavy Afrobeat explosion, this compilation documents the incredible, synthesizer-heavy boogie music that took over Nigerian dancefloors in the 1980s. Following the massive oil boom, local artists utilized imported keyboards and drum machines to craft heavily produced, incredibly slick funk and disco records. The release serves as a joyful testament to West Africa's embrace of international electronic pop.
