Album Notes & Community Reviews

Curated by Brian Reitzell and Sofia Coppola, this profoundly atmospheric soundtrack perfectly mirrors the film's themes of urban isolation and fleeting romance in Tokyo. Anchored heavily by Kevin Shields' fuzzy, ambient-leaning original compositions and classic cuts from The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine, the music heavily catalyzed the mid-2000s shoegaze revival. The compilation remains a masterclass in utilizing ethereal rock to evoke intense cinematic melancholy.
