Pomegranates

Album Notes & Community Reviews

This masterful anthology resurrects the wildly creative, cosmopolitan pop music produced in pre-revolutionary Iran during the 1960s and 1970s. The compilation highlights an astonishing era where traditional Persian orchestration and dramatic vocal deliveries were seamlessly cross-pollinated with heavy Western funk, psychedelic fuzz guitars, and orchestral disco. Highlighting icons like Googoosh and Kourosh Yaghmaei, the release successfully illuminated a vibrant musical golden age largely erased following the 1979 revolution.
