Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released at an unbelievably low budget price, this famous Island Records sampler album served as a remarkably effective manifesto for the burgeoning British underground scene. Collecting early tracks from massively influential artists like Jethro Tull, Traffic, and Free, the compilation proved incredibly successful in introducing the label's eclectic, sophisticated blend of heavy blues, pastoral folk-rock, and early progressive experimentation to a massive new youth audience.
