Arriving shortly after his highly publicized return to music, this bizarre project acts as an exercise in robotic precision. Richard D. James programmed automated, mechanical contraptions to physically strike traditional acoustic instruments like pianos and snare drums. The resulting sound removes the organic human element, presenting complex polyrhythms with a strangely cold, acoustic wooden clatter.
