Godflesh

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Forged in the grim industrial landscape of Birmingham, Justin Broadrick's debut effectively invented the punishingly slow, mechanical genre of industrial metal. Eschewing a live drummer for a rigid, unforgiving drum machine loop, the duo laid down suffocating, detuned riffs that mirrored the bleak decay of their surroundings. This profoundly heavy record completely reshaped the future trajectory of extreme music.
