Album Notes & Community Reviews
Widely acknowledged by historians as the very first true grunge record ever released, this sludgy debut finds future members of Pearl Jam and Mudhoney deliberately cross-pollinating slow, heavy metal riffing with the abrasive energy of hardcore punk. Mark Arm's sneering vocal delivery and Stone Gossard's muddy guitar tone essentially birthed the entire aesthetic foundation of the Seattle rock explosion.
