Songs for a Dead Pilot

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Signaling their crucial move to the Kranky label, this highly sparse EP showcases the Minnesota trio experimenting with heavier reverb, tape loops, and extended repetition. The tracks stretch their already sluggish slowcore aesthetic into near-ambient expanses, most notably on the dirge-like closer 'Born by the Wires'. The release established a distinctly colder, more cinematic direction that heavily informed their subsequent masterpieces.
