Strawberry Wine / Never Say Goodbye / Can I Touch You

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Released shortly after the addition of vocalist/guitarist Bilinda Butcher, this release marked a crucial turning point from the band's earlier post-punk sound toward ethereal dream pop. The jangly, slightly out-of-focus guitars and buried, co-ed vocal melodies lay the groundwork for their subsequent shoegaze innovations. It encapsulates the fragile, noisy romanticism associated with the late-80s C86 movement.
