The first installment of a conceptual trilogy of EPs, this release heralded a return to a more aggressive, raw, and dissonant sound reminiscent of the 'Broken' EP and 'The Downward Spiral'. It marked the official induction of longtime collaborator Atticus Ross as a permanent member of Nine Inch Nails. The EP also features guest contributions from Dave Grohl and Mariqueen Maandig Reznor.
