On their 2026 release Cara maluco, Osees channels frenetic energy into a tightly coiled sonic assault. The album builds upon the motorik precision of their recent output but injects a volatile, tropical-tinged rhythmic complexity, seemingly inspired by its Portuguese title, “crazy face.” John Dwyer’s signature fuzzed-out guitar squalls duel with gurgling analog synthesizers over the relentless, syncopated foundation laid by the dual drummers. The production is dense and claustrophobic, pushing every element into the red to create a disorienting yet exhilarating tapestry of sound exploring themes of primal mania and carnivalesque absurdity.
