Utilizing a German term that translates to 'struggle to overcome the negatives of the past', Jasper Marsalis constructs a fragmented exploration of historical memory and racial trauma. The deeply abstract production melds disjointed acoustic guitar loops with eerie, glitched vocal samples and hushed, poetic delivery. The haunting sound collage acts as a mesmerizing, avant-garde bridge between his hip-hop origins and his later experimental songwriting.
