Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by Jack Endino and acting as the legendary Sub Pop label's crucial second release, this sludgy debut established the foundational architectural blueprint for the Seattle sound. Chris Cornell's towering, Robert Plant-esque wail perfectly complemented Kim Thayil's drop-tuned, Sabbath-inspired riffing, completely revitalizing heavy guitar music for the alternative era.
