An acoustic-leaning EP by American power pop band The Posies, 'Nice Cheekbones and a Ph.D.' strips the group's harmony-rich songwriting down to spare arrangements. Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer's vocal harmonies remain the center of the record's melodic design.
