Album Notes & Community Reviews

Bridging the gap between Norwegian black metal and avant-garde dissonance, this bizarre debut demo-turned-EP completely alienated traditionalist fans upon its release. The trio, featuring members of Emperor and Aura Noir, utilized clean, atonal chanting, surreal jazz-inflected drumming, and creeping tempos to forge an entirely unclassifiable dark metal aesthetic. It laid the groundwork for their legendary full-length 'Written in Waters'.
