Album Notes & Community Reviews

Written by Jerry Cantrell about his long-term romantic relationship, 'Down in a Hole' is a somber, melancholic, and deeply poetic ballad. Released as the final single from 'Dirt', the track features some of the band's most beautiful, weeping vocal harmonies between Cantrell and Layne Staley. The slow-building composition guides the listener through a dark and introspective journey of regret, self-destruction, and ultimate failure.
