Album Notes & Community Reviews
Written by Jerry Cantrell about his complex, enduring friendship with vocalist Layne Staley, 'No Excuses' is the lead single from 'Jar of Flies'. The track is characterized by Sean Kinney's highly distinct, syncopated drum groove and Cantrell's warm, airy acoustic-guitar chords. It stands as an uncommonly uplifting and melodic highlight in their catalog, balancing deep-seated melancholy with comforting themes of loyalty and solidarity.
