Album Notes & Community Reviews

Written by guitarist Jerry Cantrell as a tribute to his father, a United States Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, 'Rooster' is an epic and deeply melancholic grunge masterpiece. Released as a single from their second studio album, 'Dirt', the song pairs atmospheric, slow-building acoustic guitar verses with heavy, distorted alternative metal choruses. The haunting compositions use visceral lyricism to capture the trauma, violence, and psychological scars of combat.
