Album Notes & Community Reviews
Featuring a hyper-sugary, incredibly fast-paced europop production, 'Barbie Girl' dominated late-90s global airwaves as an inescapable novelty hit. While largely perceived as a superficial party track, the lyrics subtly deliver a satirical critique of plastic consumerism and gender roles. The song infamously triggered a trademark infringement lawsuit from Mattel, which was ultimately dismissed by the courts.
