Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) / My Buddy

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut single and opening track to their landmark album 'Funeral', 'Tunnels' establishes the band's grandiose, heavily orchestrated approach to indie rock. Opening with a plaintive piano melody that rapidly builds into a sweeping ensemble of strings and crashing percussion, the song explores themes of adolescent escapism amidst intergenerational trauma. It set the template for the swelling, emotional catharsis that defined the mid-2000s indie scene.
