New San Antonio Rose / Bob Wills' Special

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Adding lyrics and a massive horn section to an earlier instrumental hit, this recording became the definitive, multi-million selling anthem of the Western swing genre. The arrangement seamlessly blends a mariachi-inflected brass melody with a driving, big band dance rhythm and smooth, crooning vocals. The single's unprecedented crossover success proved the commercial viability of sophisticated, jazz-influenced country music on a national scale.
