Biography
The Texas Playboys were the western swing orchestra of fiddler and bandleader Bob Wills, formed in Texas in 1933. With a rotating cast built around singer Tommy Duncan, steel guitarist Leon McAuliffe and guitarist Eldon Shamblin, they fused string band music with jazz, blues and pop, adding drums, electric guitars and horns. 'San Antonio Rose' and 'Faded Love' made them the defining western swing band, and a final reunion album, 'For the Last Time', followed in 1973.
